Get to Know Our Debut Book

This week, we answer a few questions about The Intrepid Three: Animus Revealed without giving too much away. We hope this blog post piques your interest.

1.       What genre is the book?

The Intrepid Three: Animus Revealed is Young Adult (YA) Sci-Fi. We would also categorize the book as Christian allegory.

 2.       Who was the book written for?

While our book primarily falls into the YA genre, we hope it will be read and enjoyed by all readers. Most importantly to us, this work is written for all people, no matter how they feel about religion. We wrote with differing types of people in mind: the church-averse and churchgoers, those feeling excluded from the pews and those that feel at home in them, and those who have never cracked the spine of the Bible and those who have worn out the pages of it.

 3.       Why should people read your book?

We hope people will read our book for entertainment but also to find hope for a better world. The book creates an escape but also calls upon our familiar reality on Earth. Also, if readers are looking for a conversation catalyst, the book provides plenty of fuel for that.

 4.       Tell us a little about the world you’ve created.

The story is about a broken world needing to find its way back together. The world is split into three planes and each is plagued by a different evil. Euporia is wrought with oppression which has led to crippling fear.  Aurelia is abounding with affluence which has bred complacency. And, Immerxia is teeming with misinformation which has clouded people’s understanding of truth.

 5.       Who are the main characters?

There are three protagonists in our story – Dez, Arabella, and Walter. Dez is a fifteen-year-old in Euporia who works a grueling job for a merciless conglomerate. Arabella is a fourteen-year-old in Aurelia living a privileged life in an aristocratic family. Walter is a seventeen-year-old in Immerxia living an average life just hoping to make his mark.

 6.       What is the future for the characters?

The Intrepid Three: Animus Revealed is the first in a series of three. The trilogy will explore if Dez, Arabella, and Walter can work together to defeat evil, who they will team up with to try, and if the worlds will ever converge to be whole again.

 7.       What part of the book was the most fun to write?

We enjoyed writing about the supernatural beings the most.  Creating an incomparable hero in Author and the worst villain of all time in the Switcher was a fun challenge. We then expanded out and created their armies as the Lumen and the Murk. While these beings are not our main characters, they pushed the boundaries of our imaginations.

 8.       What do you hope readers will take away from this story?

We hope readers see themselves represented in our story, see that the real world is not too far gone, and see that restoration is possible.
